The Benefits of Marrying Your Best Friend Pt3

By Everest John Alexander of Kingdom Learning Network

This is the 3rd of three significant benefits of marrying your best friend - Be sure to read all three.

The first benefit is “Effective Communication”, the second benefit is “Great Sex” and the third benefit of marrying your best friend is:

1) Stability & Longevity:

Experts agree that the divorce rate is at an all time high of about 45 percent for first-time marriages and much higher for the second and third timers.

Why do most married couples file for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for separation?

I believe It happens because most people get married based solely on “falling in love.”

But when was the last time anything good came from “falling”?

What happens when you fall down a flight of stairs? Fall off the wagon? Fall for a Con? Fall prey to something? Fall victim to? Or Fall sick?

Nothing good, right?

Why would “falling in love” be any different?

Of course, I’m being a little facetious, but we still need to consider this “falling in love” concept seriously.

The experts say that the “in love” feeling or phase lasts between six months to two years. During that time you can’t see anything wrong with your spouse because you’re running on hyped up emotions and the entire world looks rosy.

But after the ”romance period” is over and reality sets in many things about your spouse that used to amuse you now irritate the living daylights out of you and if not dealt with will eventually lead to differences that appear to be irreconcilable.

Not so when you marry someone you’re best friends with because you already know them inside out and vice versa, so there are no surprises 10, 20 or 50 years later.

Consequently, when that first-phase romantic “in love” feeling wears off you still get to share the rest of your life with your best friend.

How awesome is that?

In closing, please understand that I’m not advocating everyone get romantically involved with the person who happens to be your best friend right now.

That’s not it!

What I am saying is that the person whom you choose to become your husband or your wife should be someone you’ve invested quality time in getting to know, so on your wedding day if someone asks; “Who is your best friend?” you shouldn’t hesitate to answer; “The man or woman I’m about to marry.”

Thank you for sharing these great thoughts on marring your best friend, Everest.
Every married person should take s good look. Their best friend is their spouse or should be, if they are their spouses best friend.
Best wishes.
