“Religion is man’s search for God and when he couldn’t find God he made the journey the destination.” - Dr. Myles Munroe. Brother Myles Munroe’s statement is accurate and sound and I couldn’t agree with him more.
Organized Religion is when enough people join a religious movement to make it widely accepted and powerful enough so that it’s politically incorrect to call it a Cult.
The truth is every religion was started by a sinful human being and this is the fundamental difference between Organized Religion and the Christian Church.
Christianity is not a religion; never was and never will be.
The Church of Jesus Christ is the re-establishment of the kingdom of God on planet earth.
In the beginning of earth’s history God made a covenant with the first man, Adam giving him dominion over the entire planet.
Dominion means the authority and ability to rule effectively.
The Bible says that God is a King and the Earth is a Kingdom.
“For God is the King of all the earth…” (Ps 47:7)
Therefore, when God gave Adam the charge to rule the earth He basically gave him the keys to the Kingdom and made him Chief Minister of the Government of God on Planet Earth.
Unfortunately, Adam committed high treason by rebelling against God and lost his right to rule the kingdom. Adam’s descendents by default were consequently denied the privilege of sharing in the kingly reign of the planet as well.
That is, until another man arose who was qualified enough to stand in the gap between God and Man and effectively represent the human race making restitution for the crime the first man committed.
By doing so He redeemed the population of earth bringing us back into fellowship with God as rightful Citizen/Rulers of the earthly kingdom.
This is what the Lord Jesus Christ did by His death, resurrection and ascension into Heaven.
He restored all that the first man lost making us fit to rule alongside God once more.
With one condition, only those who accepted His redemption by faith in Him and His redemptive work would be able to access this new dominion given by God.
So, the Christian Church which is made up of redeemed humans is actually the beginning of the restoration of the kingdom of God on planet earth and as such it is the polar opposite of what Organized Religion is and stands for.
The Christian Church was started by the only True and Living God, Jehovah and is authorized and empowered to speak on His behalf and perform His will on earth.
Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven. Matthew 18:18 (New Living Translation)
No Religion was ever mandated by God to do this.
Now, since a kingdom is a type of government and the Christian Church represents the kingdom of God on earth, that means the Christian Church has a God-ordained Government incorporated into it.
This Government is comprised of the King of Kings, the Lord Jesus Christ and His Ministers, every Born Again Believer. They form the hierarchy of God’s government on planet earth.
The Bible says of Jesus, "The government will rest on his shoulders..." Isaiah 9:6 (New Living Translation)
And of Christians, "...God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that...governments..."
The Christian Church therefore, is not an Organized Religion but the restoration of the Government of God on Planet Earth.
